Foundation of The Old Guard Supports Spooky Block Party and Haunted Stables

Old Guard Regimental Commander, COL Dave Rowland, and his team planned and executed an outstanding family-oriented event exclusively for Old Guard Soldier families on Saturday night October 28th – the Spooky Block Party and Caisson Haunted Stables. The Foundation was invited to participate and we’re very glad we were able to do so. Many said this was the best Old Guard family event in years.
The event included two main activities, the Block Party and the Caisson Haunted Stables. The Block Party was where many decorated vehicles competed in the “Best Trunk” competition, where 2 bounces houses were located along with many other games and activities for the kids as well as fresh popcorn and beverages. The men and women of the Caisson Platoon converted the two barns into the Haunted Stables that came alive as the sun went down. One barn was designed for the kids with games and activities and an opportunity to see and “meet” the horses of the platoon. The other barn was converted into the Haunted Stables for a scary tour! Hayrides, popcorn, cotton candy, and musical entertainment were provided completing the experience at the stables. Click here to go to our Photo Gallery to see more pictures from the event.
The Foundation manned a table at the Block Party where we garnered a lot of exposure. We talked to people about our mission, passed out our brochure, and told people about the scholarship opportunity we offer to family members of TOG Soldiers and Vets of the regiment. We also passed out horse-themed rubber bracelets and pencils for the kids in keeping with the Haunted Stables activities. We also provided gift cards for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the best costume contest. We also made a donation to the Regiment in support of the events. We’re grateful to COL Rowland for the invitation and look forward to participating in similar activities in the future that support the Soldiers, families, Vets, and Regiment.
